Typically, issues stem from generational patterns, limited resources, and a dysfunctional value system, or lack of. They also frequently occur due to parenting style conflicts (i.e., authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, neglectful). Add in the messiness of life, or a child with special needs, and you may quickly find yourself in need of help.
We see parent counseling as a hybrid therapy, which includes a mix of our chosen therapeutic models and life 101 coaching. We also believe the most successful parent counselors are those who are willing to get in the game with you. In other words, we have had great success entering a family system, such as your home. This allows us to be in the moment so we can mediate, advocate, and teach-coach. It is a powerful experience that should not be overlooked.
