Criticism vs. Critical Thinking - what's the difference? Both are mind tools; however, each tool has a profound effect, e.g. criticism can be profoundly negative, unproductive, and harmful. Critical thinking is an effortful process that can be very challenging, but typically it is positive, productive, and harmless.
