Core Foundation: Secondary
To enhance our core foundation and to compliment our poly-therapeutic approach, we add two client-centered humanistic models. We do this because it strengthens the 60% success rate mentioned above, and best represents who we are, both personally and professionally. Our clients benefit from Gestalt and Existential therapies because:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Utilized alone, therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral (DBT) are highly efficacious. However, when added to other therapeutic models, such as CCT, we now have very powerful tools. For example, there are many clinical depression trials that prove cognitive based therapies are as good, if not better than treatment as usual practices (i.e., anti-depressant pills-pharmacology).
Cognitive therapies help to crack the vicious cycle of negative thinking and feeling, which produce poor outcomes (i.e., behaviors). Clients can expect the following environment and experience:
- #1 therapeutic technique for depression and anxiety
- Teamwork, but therapist is more active
- Goal oriented and problem solving
- Questions, homework, and mind-body exercise
- Identify inaccurate and negative thoughts
- Reshape thoughts, leading to positive behaviors
- Develop emotional and life stress management skills
- Decrease anger, stress, and rumination
- Improved wellness and healthier relationships
- Gain greater life meaning, purpose, and fulfillment
