Fort Collins Male Mental Health Counselor and Life Coach: About me, Part Two

Today's Blog Post

If you missed part one, please read at link: Six Things About Me, Part One

As your mental health counselor and life coach:

#1: I will challenge you.

Benefit: You experience 100% healthy constructive confrontation, designed to accelerate your growth and development.

#2: I listen to your story, then I circle back.

Benefit: It helps you to connect the dots, and facilitates breakthrough moments.

#3: I am realistic, and will encourage you to do the same.

Benefit: Realism works; BS, pathological optimism, fantasy woo-woo non-reality comfy counseling and coaching does not.

#4: I am curious and ask questions.

Benefit: We explore together, progressively, with meaning and intention.

#5: I read science/research/etc, and will share with you.

Benefit: I know my limitations; To be the best you, you will need resources and tools.

#6: I offer a safe, private space.

Benefit: I have a non-shared office -- no waiting room filled with strangers.

#7: I promote empowerment.

Benefit: With preparation, proper timing and tact, you will take risk, be resilient, and experience rewards.

#8: Insight -- listen, reflect, and summarize.

Benefit: In my own words (i.e., I do not repeat what you say, a.k.a. parotting) I help you understand challenging thoughts/emotions.

#9: Evaluation -- review progress, treatment plan, etc.

Benefit: Creates flexibility, direction, focus, and contributes to your success.

#10: Team Attitude -- patience, support, humility, compassion, and love.

Benefit: Builds trust, and increases your confidence and wellbeing.
